I did this so people can get back the good servers that haven't updated;). The latest versions of Java contain important enhancements to help improve performance, stability and security of the Java applications that run on your machine. Installing the latest Java update ensures that Minecraft continues to run safely and efficiently. As of the Java Edition 1.12 update, Minecraft requires Java 8 or greater. Minecraft for Windows 10 should update to the latest version automatically. If not, open Microsoft Store, select the three dots in the top right corner and choose 'Downloads and updates'. From here, select 'Get updates' and all your installed applications should update (including Minecraft)!

Create Backups and Download the New Version

Before upgrading your Minecraft server, go to the Minecraft directory on your server:

Back up your world file with the command:

Next, create a backup copy of your working minecraft_server.jar file:

Go to to get the URL for the new version. Download this version to your server with the command:
